Where I scrap, stamp, create!

It's not much... maybe more than some have, but not nearly as much as I've seen other scrappy sisters with.

It's definitely not matchy matchy. It needs a coat of fun turquoise paint to say, "I'm hip, I'm with it!" Stamps and paper ready to use!

I love my curtain rod punch and ribbon storage.

I have the BEST hubby in the world who built me an ink storage tower. Love him! I asked him the other day if he could build me one for my new flat punches :)

Kiddos handprints/feetprints to remind me why I do this craft. State fair ribbons and inspiration books.
Little punches and embellies at my fingertips.

More ribbon and mists. Hope you enjoyed the little tour. Come back tomorrow for THRIFTY THURSDAY :).

Happy Birthday Hootie

I love owls, I know some people are terrified of them but I adore them...though I have seen a few spooky ones. :) Made this card for a dear scrappy sister. I love this particular paper from MME even though it's OLD and the gingham AUTHENTIQUE is THE best.

Orange is my favorite color so hootie needed to be orange. Hope you have a great Sunday. Much Love,
Misty

Authentique Uncommon Pin Board

I was at one of my local thrift stores the other day and on the way out I spotted a "FREE" bin...everything in it was free (mostly hats, purses and stuffed animals)!! I can't pass up free so I was rummaging around and came upon this beauty of a vintage pin board.
I snatched it up as quick as a wink and brought my new baby home. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with her. I gave her some tender loving Authentique care and gave her a new home in Tessa's room.

Please head on over to the AUTHENTIQUE PAPER BLOG to see how she turned out.
Here's a tiny sneaky peak for ya.
Have a super day!

Sunday Artist Time

I did this collage drawing a while back. It was a memorial type drawing of my grandfather. I've been thinking a lot about loss today and had a bit of a break down at church today. I miss my family a lot. My mom moved across the country and some close friends have moved away...fallen away...friends who are very ill or have lost those close to them...a lot to think about...maybe I'm just hormonal :)

Here's my gramps with angels wings. He was a WWII veteran hence the flag. I'm from New Mexico so there's a lot of that in here...adobe bricks and mesas.

Here's a close up of the temple I used in this collage. I believe I used the St. Louis Temple as my inspiration here. That little girl there...yeah...she's a representation of me. I only had one set of grandparents growing up and they both died young. I miss them terribly.
Hope this isn't too morbid...just wanted to share.

Friday Finale: 12x12 layout i.r.l.

Hello there, this weeks layout started out with Scrapbook Steals Topaz #5 sketch and flew together. Kristy actually challenged me to make a stamped flower for this layout :)
I wanted to document how I "met" my online friend Kristy Lee...the fabulous creator of these sketches. It was the weirdest coincidence really. Three years later we've actually met in I.R.L.!!
I used a woodgrain folder to emboss the paper and then punched out a cloud shape with my Fiskars cloud punch.
Here's the full story.
I used Stampin Up Big Blooms set in Wild Wasabi ink and then overstamped them with the Stitched background stamp in Garden Green ink.
Yellow and Gray Circle on flower: Authentique Blissful Tabloids Set
Arrows and Red floral paper: Scenic Route
Orange and green paper: Sassafras
Yellow Cardstock: Stampin' Up

Thrifty Thursday #1: Sunday Outfit

Last Sunday's Outfit
Welcome to my new Thursday feature...Thrifty Thursday...where I share with you what wonderful thrifted goodies have recently become a part of my life.

Pretty much all of the clothes I buy are from the local Salvation Army. They have amazing sales and promotion cards. MOST of the clothes I buy are 25 cents...sometimes a dollar. Rarely do I pay more than that.
Yup, this is the best picture out of twelve that Tessa took...most I had my eyes closed in :(.
Jacket: .25 Merona
Skirt: .25 Saint Tropez West
Shirt: Merona, FREE from my friend, Jenny! (who is also a thrifty goddess)
Ribbon Flower Brooch: made by friend, Michelle
These shoes are totally outdated, but the only ones I had in my closet that I liked with this outfit. I'd like to get a pair of gray shoes. Any way I made some shoe clips for them with some fabric, tulle, scrapbooking fabric covered brads and my Cuttlebug die cutting machine.
Hope you are have a terrific Thursday!

Unconventional.

I wanted to make a card that was a little "different" looking. Before I cleaned my desk there were a ton of scraps on it. Those scraps turned into this card and I REALLY like it.

I've been doing a little project...sending out "Joy Cards" to a bunch of gals that have touched my life. This means that my cards need to be a bit flatter becasue of postage. Each time I tied a bow or added a brad or button I thought to myself...that's gonna cost me an extra 30 cents. Darn you USPS! Anyway...just thought I'd explain why my recent cards have been a bit more plain.
Hope you have a super day.
Bracket: Making Memories
Yellow: Authentique
Red: MME
Graph: The Girl's Paperie
Damask: MME

Free Bird: Have you seen the news at Authentique!?!?!?

Authentique is thinking outside the box. They're going to be selling 6x6 sheets of designer heavy weight textured paper INDIVIDUALLY. They're calling the series FREE BIRD!
Here's the full release:
We have named our newest product offering the "Free Bird Series." The reason? We are setting 6x6 papers free from the stifling confinement of being sold only in pads. Let's face it, most 6x6 papers are reduced versions of a 12x12 design. Until this release from Authentique Paper, 6x6 papers have not been sold individually or designed exclusively with a 6x6 outcome in mind.

Our unique merchandising
approach allows us to sell these gorgeous double-sided papers on their own, one at a time, rather than only being sold in pads. Affordably priced and printed on an amazing, high-quality textured cardstock, you'll be able to purchase as many or as few of these 6x6 papers as you choose. While we may offer limited quantities in "nests," (our term for bundles or pads), this series will primarily be offered al-a-carte through retail locations worldwide.

The Free Bird Series will feature 32 individual designs in 8 color themes and will hopefully be shipping within the next few weeks. This first series has been designed by Sam & Tara using this Fall's hottest color trends. Now you can get just the right 6x6 design in just the right quantities. 12x12 papers are sold individually, why not 6x6 papers? Authentique Paper has set 6x6 papers free!

We will show you one of each of the eight new color themes over the next couple of weeks. Let us know what you think and ask your local scrapbook retailer to be one of the first to carry Free Bird from Authentique. Not only will it be affordable to you, the customer, but it will be affordable for your reta
iler as well. Don't worry, this isn't all we have in mind when it comes to setting things free, but we felt it was the best place to start!

I think this is going to be so AMAZING. What do you think?

Wocket Pocket Card

Jakob has this book called "There's a Wocket in my Pocket". He loves it. I just love saying "Wocket"!
I wanted to make a pocket card to I could send a little something to a dear girl I know...really little...mailable. :)

I cleaned out my craft room and found tons of stickers I've had forever and I thought to myself, self, you should really try to use some of these. I think these flowers may be Jolee's from about 6 years ago. The bird and other ppr are from Echo Park. Pennant banner from MME.

I hope she likes her little treat.

Do you ATC?

I recently entered an ATC swap and I need to make 34 ATCs!!!! The new swap has a fall theme and I was thinking about something like this card I made a few years ago
ATC stands for Artist Trading Card and is exactly what it sounds like...a little piece of "art" made by you that you trade with paper artists. They measure 2.5"x 3.5" and can look like ANYTHING!
These are a few ATCs I've made in the past.

I love doing ATCs because you can put them together so quickly.

With bits and scraps of paper.

stitching and stamps.
Hope you have a great day!

Pink Granny Chic

I love the baby card so much I just had to make another similar to it. I used Authentique's Delight Paper from their Splendid Collection as the base of my block. I love how it had the yellows and pinks together. A square of rose floral to top it off and it's so "granny chic" as my friend Erica would say.

I was out thrifting at my local Salvation Army (they're amazing BTW) and I found this lamp shade that had three different pink ribbons (one silk) stapled onto it. For a quarter I wasn't passing that steal up!!! Perfect ribbon for my card.
I used Glimmer mist on the scrolly paper, added a Noteable and inked the edges! OILA! Super girly card. Have a sweet Sabbath!

Baby girl Lydia

My cousin Joey and his wife, Christina, had their very first baby a few days ago. I am so happy for them. I made this card with sweet baby feet for little Lydia. I used glimmer mist on the scrolly paper. You can kind of see it in the photo. I then sponged River Rock and Cameo Coral inks over it. The pink paper is SEI and the background ppr is Daisy D's.

I hope you all are loving your weekend. I had to go haul firewood today...it's back breaking work. Here's hoping for a restful Sabbath. :)

Design on a dime Upcylcling!!

Good Morning!
Those who know me know that I love to go thrifting...I believe it can be inherited trait...:) I got it from my mom.
So here's a little layout all about some of my recent finds and what I've done with them.
I used Scrapbook Steals MWM Topaz #4 sketch as my starting point. This layout went through a few transformations. Starting with a vellum journaling block which I sewed to the page (I had white embossed flowers behind it. It lacked balance and so my second attempt included journaling strips (on top of the sewed on vellum, shrugging shoulders).
I used the Journey collection from Authentique for most of my accents.
The leaf punch I used is from EK Sucess. I inked over the cutout with chalk ink from Martha Stewart.
I added pearls to the ends of the strips and finished it off by inking the edges.
The white floral rub-on is from SU.
I punched out the pennants and sewed them to the page with twine. I then punched some more, stamped them using Stampin' Up's Simply Soft stamp set in Tempting Turquoise Ink and adhered them over the top with dimensionals. The patterned paper is from Journey I just pleated it and attached it over the journaling then sewed it down.

Hope you all are have a super day. Enjoy the Journey!
